Studio at Second Step

It wasn't long ago that the house looked like this. Last week we cast the footings, today we put in the floor joists. We are happy to report that all is squared and level on the studio front. With Doug's accumulated building experience, it's all going a little more smoothly than it did when we were at this stage with the house.

If you remember, we hand-mixed the concrete and used garbage bags to contain the concrete in flooded footing holes.... man that was long ago...

Even I now know that 'joist' isn't a past participle of 'joust', and 'Grace' isn't just a state of being. 'On the Level' takes on whole new meaning and significance, and 'square' isn't just plain geometry. 'Square' has permanent and long lasting repercussions. 'Lower Back Pain', however is a true constant.
