Killer Windows

When Doug and I woke up this morning we both had the same observation at exactly the same time. There were birds everywhere - there was real bird traffic. They were flying criss cross up into the trees, out from under branches and - boom! - right into the window.

We went outside and found not one, but two little dazed and confused Pine Siskins. It was a little female who really hit the window and landed on her side. The male was dazed but on his feet. You can see just how out of it this little gal was.

The male hopped away under the house, but stayed in range of the female. Within a few minutes the female was blinking and grabbing my finger with her little spidery toes. And within another minute or two she'd decided it was time to get back to the mating game and she chirped plaintively and flew off. Mr Pine Siskin flew off on his own shortly after. The reflective bird stickers went up on the windows right after that.
