After months of talk and no action, Al Cannon and I headed to the "big island" for some rock climbing at Comox Lake. The cragging there is mostly short climbs on ledgy gneiss rock reminiscent of Skaha or Chek canyon. The best situated crag is a large bit of open rock that rises steeply up from the lake offering up climbs from 5.7 to 5.11. Being horribly out of practice we stuck to the 7's and 8's across the area.
The highlight of the day was a 30m 5.7 finger crack that started 10 feet off the water and climbed out to the top of the first tier. The exposure was stunning, the rock solid, and the climbing exhilarating.
It felt awesome to get back on the rock, to feel the leading head start to wake up, and to share some laughs and a beautiful area with a friend. Good times!

Why would anyone stay at home and build a fence when they could have experienced this? Good on ya boys, looks like a great adventure with a subtle reminder why we live at the edge of the world.
Awesome!!!! It makes my Bruce Trail hikes look like nothing.
