The most recent Supper Club was a Ukrainian theme. The food was, as usual, amazing! After dinner Rob and Amanda set up their table for painting Easter eggs, Ukrainian style. Its quite an involved process with adding wax to mask areas that you don't want coloured, then dipping the egg in dyes. This goes on for as many iterations as you can handle, then your egg is warmed and the wax removed to reveal the final pattern.

I had trouble wrapping my head around what seems at first like a reversal in process. Although you are adding colour, you add it only to the places that you haven't masked. Then, you add increasingly darker dyes which cover up the places that you've already coloured, unless you've subsequently covered those areas with wax! Its all very complicated.
These eggs were the first finished. Mine is the one with the sun, bikes, and water. Rachelle's is the one at the bottom. Jeremy did the fantastic one on the left with the bike. On the back side of that egg is an equally brilliant face. Angeleah did the one on the right. It was a fabulous night of food and fun. Everyone really got into it and made incredible creations. Thanks to Rob and Amanda for putting it all together and to Amanda for the photos. I forgot to bring my camera that night.

I never thought I would see the day that Doug would be painting Easter eggs at his age. Oh to be young at heart. Your eggs look fantastic. When is Scott and the family going to your island? It sounds like something Warren and I should thing about this year.
Love A. Anne
EVERYONE should think about coming out west to check this place out.
Scott and the family are coming in the middle of April. Marilyn comes a week or 2 before. We're stoked!
Wow! I've always wondered how those eggs were coloured. You guys are having too much fun and that's great. See you in a couple of weeks.
I'm not 100% sure you are qualified to do Ukrainian easter eggs - MULTI COLOURED eggs maybe - WAX BATIK eggs for sure - But UKRAINIAN eggs can't have a bike on them! (a horse, duck or cat maybe be BIKE is pushing it you people!) Nice job anyway :-)
Doosha Dobra!
