Endless Biking, in thanks for all the NSMBA does for the North Shore trails offered a dirt jumping clinic free to volunteers that go above and beyond the call. For all the trailbuilding, web work, and writing I do I was selected as one of those volunteers! Sadly, the rain turned the jumps all mushy, so instead of wrecking them we decided to put it off a week and do a trail ride instead.
Only 3 of us were (fool) hardy enough to ride on such a dark and stormy evening, but those rides almost always pay off. After a 45 minute climb we put on the armour and headed down "Executioner" to "Bitch's Brew" to "Dreamweaver", and finished out lower "Boundary".
Even though I had the waterproof camera, I have no pictures because it was so dim. We were covered in both mud and smiles at the bottom. That was only my second ride since my hand broke last fall, so I'm pretty rusty, but felt like I started to get it back.
The Shore is pretty surreal this time of year. With all the rain, everything is lush and green. Ferns and thick moss cover everything and the mist floats though the trees, revealing features slowly. The creeks are swollen and the waterfalls white and roaring. There is no one around except my two riding buddies, and when we stop all we hear are water drops on the moss.
I love the rainforest!

Glad to hear you made it down in one piece and no broken bones. Turning the heel on the second sock, so should be done by the weekend.

When we went to Torino, on your advice, the best part was the rain forest and that was in the summer. I envy you to be able to ride in such a beautiful area and to be able to hear and see nature as some of us will never be able to do.
