I figured, "Hey... I'm a pretty bright guy. I've been a software developer for over 20 years. I'm going to take a run at this bad boy". It took me 25 minutes to get both the Xbox and the TV up and running. Then I spent another 20 figuring out the controller and how to drill down through the game menu to get it going. Once the first person shooter game started up I couldn't figure out how to make it work, and I died 3 times in about 60 seconds of play.
I'm lobbying hard for cable TV so I can at least watch a hockey game on the damn thing.

You lucky, lucky SOB!
As per your request, next the cable goes in...waaaaaaa...not enough, I want a PVR...waaaaaa...not enough, I want a wireless hook-up to my pc...waaaaa....not enough, I want live actors to recreate my favourite episodes of Superfriends!
You lucky, lucky SOB.
And the "other" clement (aka the better half) is still experiencing buyer's remorse after Aaron persuaded me to purchase a 37" LCD high def TV. I am still trying to figure out whether there is a difference or not. Obviously I don't watch enough Treehouse, I mean, TV to notice a difference. My main concern was during the moment I thought we had somehow lost the Home&Garden channel. Whew, THAT was a close one! ~Jill.
Ya, everyone I've talked to says I'm lucky, which I suppose I am. After thinking about it for a bit I think THIS is why I'm bitter:
Microsoft obviously spent millions and millions of dollars developing this rig with awesome graphics, amazing sound, and good horsepower. Then, it seems to me, the day before they released it they said, "Holy Shit! We need an interface!". So they went to Zellers and spend $9.99 and bought the cheapest solution that they could glue on so they could ship it.
What, this is your first experience with Microsoft? Like they have no history of doing things 75% well, only to screw up any actual UI and user experience?
Two words: %#$@ing Start Menu.
I have not tried the xbox, but the geeks around me swear by it. But all the real gamers are goofing around with the Wii and its cool haptic interface.
Get either Rayman Raving Rabbits or WarioWare for the Wii, THEN try it out. And we'll see you in a few days with red eyes and tennis elbow.
While I am not a gamer, I would die 3 times in 30 secs... I do have a soft spot for TV's like that!
Do you know how cool Roam or the collective would look on that screen?
Poor Doug!
Now get out and ride your bike!
Dan
I love the wii...who knew I had such kickboxing talents?
