Halloween on Hornby

A balance of organic yum! with sugar wow!
Here on our fair isle there is a very tiny population of under 12ers. The median age is somewhere closer to around 55. So Halloween takes on a different mood when there is only a smattering of Trick-or-Treaters. Nevertheless, we still like to hand out goodies to the dedicated handful of kiddies and the committed parents who escort them hither thither and yon to get said goodies.

Last year was a banner year for us... I got a screamin' deal on Denman Chocolate bars (a whole box of Zesty Orange) and handed those out. The parents were climbing over their kids to get one. This year I made chocolate chip rice crispy squares and tied a fruit leather bar on for good measure. Equally well received.

We finished off the night by going to the school grounds for a private (islanders) fireworks party. I love the fireworks here. Yeah, they're not the PNE... they're better - because they're just for us. We know everyone on the school grounds and we can oooh and aaawww with joyous abandon. Wooooooowooooooowwww OOOOOOOOwwwaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Then come home and finish off the candy.....
