Friday was my last day of work before a 3 week vacation. Al and I decided to take a couple of days early in the vacation and go to Squamish to do some climbing. Squamish in late Sept can be a bit dodgy weather-wise but we hit a perfect 2 day weather window.Mid week on the shoulder season all but guarantees no competition for the popular routes so we pretty much had the run of the place. We climbed a bunch of the classics that are usually full of people and had them all to ourselves.
Squamish climbing has a lot to offer and we got a good
sample of lots of moderate variety. We climbed slab on "The Bottom Line", awesome sustained laybacking on "Diedre", experienced gripping exposure on "Merci Me", and some beautiful handjamming on "High Mountain Woody".We wrapped it all up with a blitz up the Chief's backside trail to get some killer views from the top.

Hi Doug: I'll bet Rachelle was just thrilled with some of those cliff-hanger shots. I usually get mine from an airplane.Perhaps Anne has told you we'll be out in BC from October 15-21 at my brother's place on Cultus Lake, just outside Chilliwack. We're there primarily to see the new digs he has had built over the last year. We'd send you pics, but that would just turn you green, a colour that definitely doesn't look good on you. Suffice to say, his place is right at the water's edge, with the very narrow road at his back door, on the fourth floor. The front of the "house" is three floors of windows, all facing the water. Much of the main floor is BC fir, random widths, 14 feet long. Gorgeous stone fireplace, and provision for an elevator that they will need in their senior years. Enough said. We may mail you some pics one day;unless, of course, you want to take a trip to the mainland someday and see it for yourself. I hear you like to show up "unexpectedly" sometimes, so if you're in the area of Chilliwack, look up Cultus Lake, and Lakeshore Road (No.?)More later.Unca Warren
