We saw this guy just as we were cleaning up after pouring a "rat slab" at one of the houses that we're working on. He's sitting on the end of an axe handle maybe sizing it up for a meal as they eat dead hardwood including ash. Apparently, they're quite common around here, although its the first one I've ever seen.

Ah, so that's what it is. I had one of these land on me a few weeks ago, whilst I was taking down the boat shed - scared the life outta me!!
