Hot Water On Tap

After more than a year of heating water on the stove to do dishes or wash we can now just... TURN ON THE TAP!! This is the latest achievement that has followed BC Hydro transferring their lines to our permanent service.

This whole wiring project follows a similar time line to building a house. It seems to take forever to build the foundation, but then the walls go up incredibly quickly. With the electrical setup, the design, drilling, and wirepulling seemed interminable, but once we got power the advancements happen on a daily basis.

Yesterday saw both the kiln and the hot water heater energized and working, the kitchen lights all working, and another of the 3way switches fixed. Today I hope to get the dryer vent installed, the last of the 3-way switches working, the outdoor lights and receptacles working, and the last of the wiring protected in preparation for a final electrical inspection.

There's still plenty to do, though:

• I want to run network cable to several places in the house. I just don't like the idea of wireless with it's frequency so close to that of microwaves.
• Run some phone cable though out the house so we have multiple phone jacks
• Wire in the septic pump and control panel
• More outside lighting and receptacles
• On our next town trip we'll be picking up some nice lighting fixtures to replace the temporary ones that I've installed.
• Wire and install our fancy range hood that's been sitting in a box for the last year or so.
