Postal on Hornby

There's been a kerfuffle lately about changing post delivery personnel here on Hornby. People have come down hard in favour of keeping our delivery staff of the past 4 years. Canada Post, in contrast, has seen fit to give us a new postwoman. There is some worry that the new person will not adapt to our island easily. Mail comes in many forms and addressed in many ways. Packages would sometimes be left on our kitchen table if we were not at home. We loved that!

We knew we had arrived when a letter addressed to "Doug and Rachelle, Hornby Island" actually made it to us. Today I know I have reached a whole new pinnacle of home here on Hornby.... check out this craziness!

Speaking well of posties...Last Christmas I left our usual yearly Christmas gift (for our Postie) in our mailbox, and noticed several days later that the postie who picked it up was not our regular carrier. "Not to worry."she said. "Your package is put in the locker of the person who does your route, especially as it was known that she was on holidays. She'll come home to many gifts such as yours." Warms your cockles, don't it? Warren

Rachelle: That one takes the cake. Wow. That's very cool and great to hear. Hopefully, this level of service will continue. I find it kind of odd (but not surprising) that we get better service from contract Canada Post workers.

To be fair - our postie in Vancouver was amazing. We got to know him so well he started signing for my registered mail and putting it through the mail box!
